About

The Office of Catholic Social Ministries is dedicated to engaging and forming ministry leaders and the People of God in Catholic Social Teaching to better serve people in need and on the margins of life, by offering hope and healing through the person of Jesus Christ.

The Office is specially dedicated in caring for the needs of the sick, the poor, the marginalized and the outcast, in assisting in the strengthening of the family, and sharing the light of faith in the social, medical, economic, and political contexts.

Disabilities and Deaf Ministries

The mission for the Ministry to Persons with Disabilities and Caregivers and to the Deaf is to provide a spiritual and physical environment in every parish within the diocese, to enable those persons with disabilities and caregivers to participate as fully as possible in the life of the church.

Special Mass for Persons With Disabilities

An inclusive Mass for Persons with Disabilities and Caregivers is held annually and is hosted by various parishes throughout the diocese. The date and location of the Mass will be announced in parish bulletins prior to the Mass, and will be sent out via mail or email to those in our database.

Lenten Retreat

A Lenten retreat is given annually within the Diocese and is held at various parishes. The date and location of the retreat will be announced in parish bulletins prior to the retreat, and will be sent out via mail or email to those in our database.

Winter Social

The Diocese of Dallas sponsors an annual social during Advent or Epiphany for people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, and the Deaf. It is held at various parishes throughout the diocese. The date and location of the social will be announced in parish bulletins, and will be sent out via mail or email to those in our database.

Mobility Assistive Device Program

The Diocese of Dallas Disabilities Ministry has mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, canes, and walkers, available for use by parishioners who are in need. If you wish to donate mobility equipment or are in need of such equipment, please call the Diocese of Dallas Medical Equipment Program at 214-379-3175.

The Deaf Program

There are several interpreted masses throughout the diocese of Dallas for the Deaf. Please click here for interpreted mass locations and times. We also offer a sacramental preparation program in sign language. There is a mass for the Deaf and a potluck lunch quarterly. The date and location of these masses will be announced in parish bulletins, and will be sent out via mail or email to those in our database.

Homebound Ministry

Prison and Jail Ministry has been offered by the Diocese of Dallas for over 30 years. Currently, the ministry serves 11 correctional facilities throughout our 9 counties. These correctional facilities include jails, prisons and juvenile detention centers.

Hospital Chaplains Ministry

The Hospital Chaplains Ministry coordinates the service of chaplains in hospitals and care facilities within the Diocese of Dallas. Chaplains ensure the availability of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and pastoral care for Catholic patients.

Prison Ministry
