The Diocese of Dallas proudly announces the successful completion of a comprehensive Parish Safety and Security course by dedicated volunteers from St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Plano, St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Dallas, and Holy Cross Church in Dallas. The course, spanning six days with two hours of instruction each day, equipped participants with essential knowledge and skills to ensure the safety and security of parishioners and facilities.

The graduation event, attended by Manny Sanchez, the Catholic Diocese of Dallas Director of Security & Emergency Management, provided an opportunity to individually commend each graduate, express heartfelt gratitude, and present certificates of completion on behalf of the Diocese.

“The commitment and dedication exhibited by these volunteers reflect their unwavering dedication to fostering a safe and welcoming environment within their respective parishes,” explained Sanchez.

Volunteers from St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Plano will immediately assume roles as volunteer ushers during weekly services, contributing to the maintenance of a secure environment for all parishioners. Meanwhile, graduates from St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Holy Cross Church will leverage the knowledge gained to establish Parish Security Teams within their communities, enhancing preparedness and vigilance.

The curriculum covered in the course aligns with the Crisis Management Manuals implemented across schools and parishes within the Diocese of Dallas, ensuring consistency and adherence to established safety protocols. This initiative underscores the Diocese’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of its members.

“We are immensely proud of the dedication demonstrated by the volunteers who completed the Parish Safety and Security course,” said Sanchez. “Their proactive approach to enhancing safety measures within their parishes exemplifies our collective commitment to fostering secure and inclusive environments for all.”

Looking ahead, the Diocese of Dallas aims to make this valuable course accessible to every parish, empowering communities with the knowledge and resources needed to safeguard their congregations effectively.
