Catholic Social Ministries

About

The Office of Catholic Social Ministries is dedicated to engaging and forming ministry leaders and the People of God in Catholic Social Teaching to better serve people in need and on the margins of life, by offering hope and healing through the person of Jesus Christ.

The Office is specially dedicated in caring for the needs of the sick, the poor, the marginalized and the outcast, in assisting in the strengthening of the family, and sharing the light of faith in the social, medical, economic, and political contexts.

Missionaries of Hope Conference

Sister Alicia led a powerful Day of Reflection as we deepened our understanding of being missionaries of hope among all peoples, our Eucharistic revival, and the Church’s mission through prayer, reflection, and community.

Respect Life Month

With great joy, we celebrate October as Respect Life Month amid the Church’s Jubilee Year of Hope. This Jubilee Year “offers us the opportunity to appreciate anew, and with immense gratitude, the gift of the new life that we have received in Baptism, a life capable of transfiguring death’s drama.” The life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation of our hope. Through Christ, our sins are forgiven, death is overcome, and life is victorious.

Homebound Ministry

Persons who are sick or homebound are much more than their sickness or inability to participate fully in the parish. They offer gifts of faith, prayer, life experience, and more, that our parishes need. Please pray with us that the homebound ministry initiative will provide hope and spiritual healing for many people in our diocese!

Care for Creation
Faithful Citizenship

This Office serves as a central diocesan resource for social justice, education and advocacy. It also fosters a greater understanding of global solidarity and collaboration with various agencies that seek the common good.

The diocesan Parish Social Ministry program provides the integration of social concerns ministry efforts in the life of the parish community. This Office serves to develop and support parish social concerns committees by providing the necessary tools to bring about Christian social change in light of Catholic social teaching.
