Disaster Relief
Emergency Second Collection for Disaster Relief
October 12 – 13, 2024
The recent hurricanes have left a trail of destruction across the south, including Georgia, North Carolina and Florida, affecting hundreds of thousands of people. Many areas in the southern United States have declared disasters, and millions are without power.
As Catholics, we are called to pray for those who have lost their lives and to help comfort grieving families and communities. We also pray for those who have lost their homes and businesses, that they may they find peace and comfort in God’s enduring love for us, even amidst these most trying circumstances. And we pray for the emergency responders and those who have begun the work of providing for the needs of the impacted in these communities in the recovery efforts, that they may be kept from harm as they seek to bring relief, comfort, and healing.
Bishop Burns has asked the faithful of the Diocese of Dallas to help support the needs of our sisters and brothers impacted most by Hurricane Helene followed immediately by Hurricane Milton. The second collection taken this weekend, October 12-13, will be collected by the Diocese of Dallas and distributed to the local branches of Catholic Charities and Society of St. Vincent de Paul to help survivors with their immediate and long-term needs of those struggling with these two recent storms. With your gift these local organizations will provide food, shelter, aid, and hope. Together, we can support our sisters and brothers as they begin to rebuild and restore hope. Please support the Emergency Second Collection for Disaster Relief efforts today.
