Our Missions
Missionaries of Hope
Among All Peoples
The fundamental vocation of all Christians and the entire Church as the community of the baptized is to be in the footsteps of Christ, messengers and builders of hope.
We as His disciples are sent to all peoples and mystically accompanied by him, the Lord Jesus continues his ministry of hope for humanity. He still bends over all those who are poor, afflicted, despairing and oppressed, and pours upon their wounds the balm of consolation and the wine of hope.
Obedient to her Lord and Master, and in the same spirit of service, the Church, the community of Christ’s missionary disciples, prolongs that mission, offering her life for all in the midst of nations. (Pope Francis, World Mission Sunday Message 2025)

Costa Rica 2024 Recap
“The Pastoral Services Office and the campus ministers of the schools wanted to provide a missionary experience—service, work, social action, hands on work with people in Central America, so that our students, our kids in the diocese, would learn about the Church, be part of the Church, and see themselves as a Church—as one body, one faith, one baptism, one Lord Jesus Christ.”
Juan Rendon, Director of the Diocese of Dallas’ Catholic Social Ministries Office
The Pontifical Mission Societies
As the official missionary arm of the Catholic Church charged with the work of evangelization, the Pontifical Mission Societies USA seek prayer and sacrifice to support 1,100 territories throughout the world where the Catholic Church is too young, too poor, or is actively persecuted and cannot thus be self-sufficient.
Make a Difference
Through the medical, catechetical and education missions our diocese provides basic medical care to people with difficult and limited access to see a doctor; the catechetical mission is a joint effort to provide ongoing catechetical training and leadership; and the education mission is a collaborative effort to help young adults get an education to empower their local communities.
It is a service mission trip where Catholic High school students spend a week working on various construction projects; they work with parishioners building sidewalks, fences, painting, classrooms, and building human relationships. The students have an opportunity to delve deeper in their understanding of mission and solidarity, grow spiritually through the corporal work, opportunities for faith formation, peer relationships, and celebration of the sacraments with the local people.
The second collection on the first week of January helps to support these missions.
The Diocese of El Paso is our sister diocese. Our goal is to strengthen our relationship and collaboration to foster a culture of life. We work in solidarity to build up vibrant and transformative Catholic faith communities among the poor.
Throughout the year, the Pontifical Mission Societies support the proclamation of the Gospel, the building of the Church, and the work and witness of mission priests, religious Sisters and Brothers, and lay pastoral leaders. These missionaries provide food, education, and medical care to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. Through their work, they reveal the compassionate heart of Jesus. Help support their efforts ~ and be right there with them, offering hope.
