Frequently Asked Questions

Curriculum

Catholic schools are known for their strong academic reputation, emphasis on rigorous coursework, and focus on fostering moral character development. Students graduate well-prepared for the demands of Catholic high schools or the high standards of local public schools. A Catholic education equips young people with a solid foundation in academics, ethics, and values.

Like other Diocesan schools, Mother Teresa Catholic School will provide a rigorous curriculum in core subjects like reading, writing, math, history, and the sciences while also incorporating foreign language, the arts, and STEM programs. Faculty at Mother Teresa Catholic school will teach from an integrated curriculum, bringing together faith and academics across all disciplines. In partnership with families, Mother Teresa Catholic School will provide a personalized education that meets the unique needs of each student, ensuring that every child has the resources and support necessary to grow and succeed.

The curriculum in Catholic schools aligns with state educational requirements, while placing a distinct focus on religious studies. While covering core subjects and exploratory courses, our Catholic schools emphasize moral education, theology, and values that provide a comprehensive learning experience. Developed by the Diocese of Dallas in partnership with Via Learning, our Saints and Scholars Curriculum Standards integrate faith and academic rigor across all content areas. Curriculum implementation on our campuses began in 2019, and is ongoing across all Diocesan elementary schools.

Building a new elementary school presents an opportunity to incorporate technology that supports 21st-century learning. We will leverage technology to create an environment that fosters critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy skills throughout the new campus, all while carefully managing screen time and ensuring meaningful student engagement.

Catholic Formation

In a time when many families struggle to find a community guided by shared values and a genuine mission, Catholic schools stand as beacons of hope. Catholic schools serve as spiritual extensions of the home, evolving into broader faith communities that enrich and support parish life.

Faith formation will play a critical role in life at Mother Teresa Catholic School. While students of all faiths are welcomed and supported, Mother Teresa Catholic School will approach spiritual formation from a distinctively Catholic lens—one that is informed by the life of service and generosity of the school’s patroness, Mother Teresa of Calcutta. In collaboration with the five regional parishes, we endeavor to lead innovation in Catholic formation and enrich spiritual life across the community.

At the heart of the mission of every Catholic school is the development of each child. We are driven first to aid students in strengthening their understanding of God’s presence in their lives, which drives their understanding of their inherent dignity and that of others. Spiritual growth will be supported through religious education, daily prayer, and regular onsite Masses in a dedicated campus chapel. Pastoral care programs and spiritual retreats will offer additional opportunities for reflection, providing students with the tools to explore and deepen their faith.

Yes. Our students will be encouraged to engage in activities that promote compassion, empathy, and a commitment to addressing societal issues, aligned

with the principles of Catholic social teaching. Students will be prepared for their next educational journey so that as adults, they are equipped to lead with integrity, upholding the dignity of all others.
