St. Monica Catholic School

The Director of Development is the chief fundraising staff member for St. Monica Catholic School and the St. Monica Endowment Fund. In collaboration with the Pastor and School Principal, the Director of Development plans and implements all fund-raising strategies. Ideal candidate will have deep knowledge and experience in the St. Monica community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Development Director is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of all fundraising activities, gift solicitation and stewardship, as well as the planning, evaluation, and support of the school and endowment fund fundraising efforts. Other responsibilities include school development, database management, communications and constituent relations activities that create a supportive climate for school and endowment fund growth.

 

General Duties – For the School and Endowment Fund

 

Leadership and Planning

 

·         Actively work to create a comprehensive development plan for cultivation and solicitation of support from individuals in the St. Monica Community bearing in mind the school’s mission of Catholic education

·         Craft a major donor campaign in conjunction with the Pastor, School Principal and Endowment Committee

·         Work with the Director of Communications as primary advisor on marketing communications support and collateral development, information to be shared with constituents, news media relations strategies, and events including planning and execution of special events including donor recognition opportunities

·         Engage staff and volunteers for assistance with events

 

Development /Stewardship

 

·         Responsible for all major fundraising campaigns, including, but not limited to, Debt Reduction and Capital Campaigns

·         Responsible for the planning, management, promotion, and implementation of all School and Endowment Fund fundraising initiatives including donor appreciation dinners and alumni events.

·         Educate and engage key volunteers (e.g. all school clubs) in implementing mission-based fundraising and participation in school events.

·         Work to create and support a culture of stewardship and philanthropy within the school community.

 

Research, Cultivation & Solicitation

 

·         Cultivate donor relationships at all levels and work to raise the giving levels of all donors

·         Research prospects and establish priorities for solicitation

·         Manage and execute strategies for cultivating and soliciting donations

·         Network within local community organizations

·         Contact potential donors and secure on-going financial support for the School and Endowment Fund

·         Build and implement annual stewardship programs that encourage gifts of time, talent, and treasure

·         Complete prospect research for major gift donors ($25k and above) and other sources to support school and endowment fund fundraising efforts

·         Implement plans for maintaining a large base of smaller, annual individual donors

·         Recruit, train, manage, supervise, and acknowledge volunteers to assist with development projects

·         Increase planned giving

 

Operations

 

·         Monitor all donor information and provide statistical analysis to school leadership

·         Develop reports and documents for leadership and decision-making purposes

·         Regularly perform needs/trend analysis and make projections for future giving

 

 

Governance and Strategic Planning

 

·         Promote understanding, acceptance and support of the vision and mission statements, and objectives of the school

·         Set priorities to meet annual goals in development and enrollment

 

Constituent and Alumni Relations

 

·          Identify, recruit, and engage volunteers for development and enrollment efforts including prospects, parents, alumni, grandparents, students, faculty, and administrative staff, etc.

·          Volunteer planning and management

·          Event planning, management, and implementation

·          Work closely with the school administration, school advisory council, school staff, and volunteers to assist them in school activities and events

 

Other Administrative Duties

 

·         Other administrative duties which may from time to time be reasonably assigned at St. Monica Catholic School

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·         Strong Fundraising and gift solicitation background

·         Experience in enrollment management, development, sales, marketing, communication, and/or volunteer management.

·         Ability to appreciate and communicate a passion for Catholic education

·         Demonstrate leadership and effectiveness in developing and accomplishing organizational goals

·         Ability to build a team, effectively recruiting and managing volunteers

·         Ability to conceptualize and execute strategic plans, the ability to interact confidently and effectively with school administration, school board, school staff, volunteers, students, and community organizations

·         Experience in a parochial or not-for-profit environment preferred

·         Bachelor’s degree in related field strongly preferred

·         5 years or more of fundraising experience

·         CRM, Google Ads and Google Analytics knowledge
