General Description:
The Director of Youth Confirmation is responsible for overseeing the Middle School and High School Confirmation programs at St. Monica. The primary focus is to foster the personal and spiritual growth of the youth, empowering them to become disciples of Christ. Reports to the Director of Faith Formation and collaborates as an integral part of the Faith Formation Team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and carry out the Confirmation curriculums following Parish and Diocesan requirements for middle school and high school students
- Ensure Confirmation requirements are fulfilled by students and parents
- Assist during the registration process
- Coordinate Confirmation parent formation classes
- Coordinate extracurricular activities
- Plan and coordinate Confirmation Liturgy and rehearsal
- Recruit and provide spiritual and pedagogical formation to volunteers
- Ensure all volunteers are in compliance with Safe Environment guidelines
- Maintain continuous communication with parents, students, and volunteers
- Liaison between Confirmation homeschool families and parish, following our guidelines and requirements
- Maintain Confirmation page updated on the parish website
- Collaborates with the staff of the Office of Faith Formation
- Schedule facilities for special events and classes
- Attend monthly St. Monica staff meetings and weekly Faith formation team meetings
- Facilitate transition from Confirmation to youth Ministry
- Help in other ministerial and administrative responsibilities as needed
Skills and Abilities
- Active Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church
- Able to articulate the faith clearly in group settings and one and one
- Must pass a background check and be Safe Environment cleared at St. Monica
- Willing to adhere to all church policies
- Team player- ability to work with staff, volunteers and other ministries
- Self-motivated, creative and resourceful
- Excellent communication, administrative and organizational skills
- Bilingual -English and Spanish (Preferred)
- Able to perform mild to moderate physical work; some lifting, pushing or pulling of objects.
Education/ Experience
- Bachelor/ Master Degree in theology or related field and/or extensive experience in Faith Formation.
- Working experience directing or coordinating religious programs
Hours
- Days and hours are flexible but must maintain some daytime office hours
- Frequent evenings and weekends are required
