The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a volunteer organization that offers direct aid to those in need across nine counties in North Texas. Through personal, compassionate interaction, the Society’s members provide short-term financial, material and emotional support to our neighbors in crisis.
In addition, broader Society programs and services help families address the underlying root causes of their basic unmet needs. Things like access to free prescription medication for those without insurance, or support in escaping predatory debt empower neighbors to build a life free from poverty.
Job Summary:
The Director of Philanthropy expands the impact for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of North Texas by establishing supportive relationships with prospective individual donors and corporate partners.
Principal Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), the Director of Philanthropy supports the advancement of St Vincent de Paul, with a focus on raising gifts of $5,000 – $50,000 from individuals and corporations.
The Director of Philanthropy will work to fundraise from a portfolio of existing donors and new prospects and business leads. Specific duties include:
- Cultivate, solicit and steward new and existing donors for upper level to major annual fund gifts.
- Develop major gift strategies including tours, site visits, and small prospecting events to drive revenue results.
- Work with the CAO and board Advancement Committee to develop leads and pursue introductions to start donor conversations.
- Manage a personal portfolio of donors and prospects, applying moves management strategies to set engagement goals, cultivate relationships, and secure philanthropic gifts and sponsorships.
- Provide updates to database concerning financial forecast, donor interactions and research notes.
- Serve as brand ambassador in the community to represent the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at community events.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong understanding and appreciation for the vision, mission, principles, and practices of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of North Texas.
- Emotionally intelligent, driven, and humble approach to helping donors and partners realize their philanthropic goals.
- Superior team player with interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and professionally with a wide range of people, both inside and outside the organization.
- Strong presentation, persuasion and storytelling skills, both verbal and written.
- Aptitude for prioritizing, attention to detail, and managing time in a fast-paced environment which often presents competing priorities.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; accepts responsibility for quality, accuracy, and timeliness of assignments.
- Possess creativity, an innovative spirit, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with Salesforce preferred.
- Flexibility and ability to work nights and weekends.
- Genuine love for building and nurturing donor relationships through proactive outreach, thoughtful stewardship, personalized cultivation, consistent follow-up, and sustained engagement.
- Ability to maintain donor confidentiality.
- Willingness to work in a faith based (Catholic) environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of proven experience in corporate sales, development, or fundraising, with demonstrated success in donor cultivation and portfolio management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with CRM/database management systems (Salesforce preferred).
