Blue Mass
About the Blue Mass
Law enforcement and first responders play a vital role in promoting justice and safety in our communities. While we encourage peace, justice, and condemn violence, we sometimes overlook the service and sacrifice of these brave individuals. The Blue Mass, established in 1934, is a tribute to their dedication. This special Mass honors city, county, state, and federal law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, and more, including those who have lost their lives serving their communities.
The Blue Mass is celebrated on the Feast of Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, known for their protective and healing powers. As we gather to honor our public safety heroes on this day, we pray for a recognition of the inherent dignity in every human life, echoing our faith that we are all made in the image of God.
