Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

GAAP Accounting:
– Engages external audit firm and creates annual financial report.
– Supervise annual audit.

Treasury Services:
– Manage the endowment.
– Maintain banking relationship(s) and ensure JPII loan covenants are maintained.
– Arrange short and long-term financing whenever necessary.
– Primary check signer.

Financial Planning and Analysis:
– Development and dissemination of the budget.
– Present analysis and budget to the Finance Committee.
– Master and strategic planning in coordination with the President and Principal.
– Develop and maintain a forward-looking 5-year plan in light of overall school strategy.

Accounting Oversight:
– Review monthly financials and prepare executive report to the President.
– Complete monthly bank reconciliations and proper accounting of journal entries and ensuring the books are closed timely each month/year.
– Work with Admissions Director regarding Tuition Assistance, ensuring budget aligns with strategic aims of school.
– Oversight of finance office support staff.
– Oversight of internal controls.
– Oversight of fundraising records, as well as related expenditure tracking.
– Oversight of finances related to third party facility rentals.
– Oversight of finances related to school booster club(s).

Special areas of focus:
– Coordinating all financial matters related to the growth plans of the school.
– Review and manage all JPII contracts, obtaining necessary risk management and legal reviews where necessary.
– Part of a team to review School wide technology to maximize its utility.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

– Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting or related field required.  Master’s degree preferred.
– CPA preferred.
– 10-15 years general business finance/accounting experience with five years proven successful and responsible management and leadership experience.
– School financial administration experience preferred.
– Demonstrated experience with external financial audits and financial reporting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

– Proficiency with MS Office, Google Apps G Suite and Blackbaud.
– Advanced knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting systems, and economics.
– Demonstrated experience supervising finance and accounting operations for an organization.
– Has the ability to think critically and strategically, translating those insights into effective plans.
– Exhibits proficiency in the comprehension, distillation, and dissemination of complex data and information to diverse groups.
– Knowledge of information/data processing systems and financial applications.
– Ability to resolve conflict, listen, and appropriately respond to concerns.
– Demonstrated leadership skills and managing personnel.
– Possesses a high degree of proficiency in negotiating and executing agreements with external vendors.
– Ability to implement policy and procedures.
– Must be willing and able to periodically work after hours and on weekends, as needs of the school dictate.
– Must be willing to support the mission and teachings of the Catholic church, as well as the mission and vision of John Paul II High School. Practicing Catholic preferred.
