Literary Festival and Art Contest
FEATURING GENE LUEN YANG
The fourth annual Bishop Dunne Literary Festival will be held April 9, 2024. This year’s speaker is Gene Luen Yang. An award-winning graphic novelist and illustrator, Yang is also a former Catholic high school teacher. National Book Award finalist as well as the winner of the Printz Award and an Eisner Award in 2006. His two-volume graphic novel Boxers & Saints won the L.A. Times Book Prize and was a National Book Award Finalist in 2013.
The Art Contest features three competitive brackets (Elementary School, Middle School, High School). Artists submit a work of art using this quote from Gene Luen Yang’s book: SOMETIMES, A FIGHT YOU CANNOT WIN IS STILL WORTH FIGHTING.” Complete details on the art contest, deadlines and rules are found here: www.bdcs.org/litfest.
