Jubilee of Hope with Mass

29 December 2024 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Pope Francis has called for an ordinary Jubilee Year of Hope, inaugurated with the opening of the Holy Door in Rome on December 24, 2024, the Vigil of Christmas. In all other dioceses around the world, Pope Francis has decreed that the Jubilee of Hope will open with Mass on Sunday, December 29, 2024, the Feast of the Holy Family.

Here in Dallas, Bishop Edward J. Burns will open the Jubilee of Hope with Mass at the National Shrine Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.

The special liturgy opening the Jubilee of Hope will begin on the Cathedral plaza steps, with a brief moment of Veneration of the Jubilee Cross. The Jubilee Cross will be placed in honor in the Cathedral sanctuary for the entire year of the Jubilee, a sign of our hope in Christ’s resurrection. Following the solemn procession into the Cathedral, the Bishop will lead the rite of the memorial of Baptism, the Sprinkling Rite, after which Mass continues.
