The Coordinator of Alpha is responsible for the coordination, management, and expansion of AlphaĀ under the direction of the Assoc. Director of Evangelization. The ideal candidate is foremost someoneĀ who is a committed disciple and engaging leader, loves the Catholic faith and is eager to share the faithĀ through Alpha (and other evangelization efforts), can develop positive relationships with a broad rangeĀ of parishioners and members of the local community, is mission and vision-oriented, with insight andĀ ideas about how to grow current ministry offerings and bring others to Jesus. Comfortable presenting, leading volunteers, and teaching through small group ministry, and is a self-starter with an outstandingĀ ability in organization. Ā This role requires a person who feels equally comfortable ministering to peopleĀ outside the church building as they do inside the church. This individual must exercise a variety of gifts,Ā including hospitality, administration, team building, and teaching.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Requirements of the Position

Alpha

  • Primary champion for and coordinator of Alpha (English and Spanish), including co-coordinating marketing strategies for seasonal launch with the Assoc. Director of Evangelization.
  • Identify, train, and coach hosts and helpers for all sessions.
  • Oversee the process of guest registration and building groups for each session.
  • Empower and support Hospitality, A/V, Emcee (MC) and other roles for each session.
  • Helps people transition off the Alpha team to clear next steps for connecting, growing, and serving in the community
  • Keeps track and regularly reports to the Assoc. Director of Evangelization on the health and growth of Alpha in light of established goals.
  • All Admin i.e. is responsibility for the ordering or coordinating of the food (working with the Alpha hospitality team), sending emails, check requests, organizing weekend away, etc.).
  • Creates opportunities for outreach to the local community, by inviting them to Alpha, and welcomes them into the community and mission of the parish.
  • Handles the administrative needs of Alpha, including promotion of Alpha through all social media means, bulletin, website, outreach, etc.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budgetary needs for Alpha and with the overall evangelization budget as needed with the Assoc. Director of Evangelization and Senior Director of Faith Formation.

Outreach

  • Assists the Assoc. Director of Evangelization, with the collaboration of other parish leaders, to continue to explore and coordinate ongoing outreach/evangelistic ministry opportunities (i.e. Prayer tables at City of Plano events, Balloon Festival, Dickenā€™s in the Square, Eucharistic Revival Nights, and door to door evangelization efforts, if or when implemented] etc.).
  • Assists with all staff and volunteer-led outreach/evangelization initiatives such as the Fall Festival, Pints with the Priest, Live Christ Share Christ (works with current liaison).
  • Assists with the collaboration, with other teams, to create evangelization resources used for external evangelization efforts.
  • Stays up to date on current best practices in church outreach and evangelization.

Event Planning

  • Assists the Assoc. Director of Evangelization with the planning of the parish mission, including theme, speakers, etc.
  • Assists with the recruitment of prayer teams for all staff and volunteer-led outreach/evangelization initiatives (i.e. Ministry Leaderā€™s Summits or similar, etc.)
  • All other related tasks as designated by the Assoc. Director of Evangelization or Senior Director of Faith Formation

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 yearsā€™ experience preferred in evangelization, Alpha, and/or parish ministry paid or volunteer; experience in Alpha, sharing faith through teaching and/or leading small groups a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills, including pastoral and interpersonal communications; comfortable being in front of a crowd and in one-on-one/small group informal settings with parishioners; is a collaborative team player
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends; 40-hour work week expected
  • Bilingual preferred, not required.
