General Summary of the Position
The Database Manager for Christ the King works toward the mission of enhancing parishioner engagement with the parish community in order to deepen their relationship with Christ. The individual who holds this position must be radically mission-centric and understand their role in light of the call to make disciples. This role requires a high-level of collaboration with parish staff, volunteer leaders, and parishioners, as well as extensive knowledge of databases and information management.
Initially, this position will be tasked with managing the transition from the current databases (Parish Data Systems and Breeze) to the new parish church management system, MinistryPlatform (MP). Following data migration, the Database Manager, in collaboration with MP implementation specialists, will be responsible for a successful implementation, including training and ongoing support of staff and volunteer leaders, as well as parishioners. After initial implementation, the Database Manager will be responsible for integrating MP with parish life, maintaining the integrity of the database, and strategically leveraging the database functionality to measure and increase parishioner engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
- Serve as the staff project lead for the data migration from PDS & Breeze to MinistryPlatform (MP) and overall project owner and manager
- Serve as the main point of contact for all matters relating to MP
- Work intimately with the MP implementation team (and other support staff) during migration and implementation
- Lead communications campaign to staff, volunteer leaders, and parishioners regarding the implementation of MP
- Provide ongoing training and support for staff, volunteer leaders, and parishioners on MP and its functions
- Manage regular parishioner onboarding and profile upkeep within MP
- Maintain integrity of data within MP, including periodic database audits
- Manage security rights of staff and volunteer leaders
- Maintain accurate email lists within Flocknote using contact information in database
- Provide regular reports on parishioner engagement, to be shared with the pastor and to inform strategic planning
- Participate in upper-level strategic planning meetings when needed
- Other related duties as required
Position Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Disciple of Jesus Christ who regularly seeks to enhance his or her relationship with God through the tradition of the Roman Catholic Church
- Extensive experience with database software, basic Microsoft platforms, Flocknote, and generally “tech savvy”
- Thorough understanding of ministry and parish life
- Effective and patient teacher with the ability to train individuals with a variety of skill levels in how to engage with the database
- Ability to work as a team player
- Comfort with managing volunteers, employees, and guests
- Clear and responsive communicator
- Ability to represent the parish professionally and pastorally
- Diligent and streamlined process manager
- Adept problem-solver
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters
- Positive, practical attitude with demonstrated initiative
- Openness to continued professional growth and development
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering or related field or 5+ years of relevant experience
- Coding abilities a plus
Special Requirements:
- Must work in-person at church office
- Works up to 25 hours a week normally; may need to work more hours during implementation
- Hours must generally be worked during office hours (9:00 AM-5:00 PM)
- Availability to handle emergency database situations
