General Summary of the Position

The Associate Superintendent for Operational Vitality supports the Superintendent in the day-to-day oversight of the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Dallas, particularly in the areas of operational vitality and growth. The position primarily aids schools in Institutional Advancement, enrollment growth, strategic planning, financial planning, facilities maintenance and enhancements, and school safety and security. The Associate Superintendent for Operational Vitality manages the CSO brand and effectively markets Catholic education throughout the Diocese. A primary function of the Associate Superintendent for Operational Vitality is to support pastors, principals, and Institutional Advancement staff to ensure site-level program effectiveness.

The Associate Superintendent for Operational Vitality reports to the Superintendent, and collaborates with diocesan Human Resources, Business, Communications, Development, and Safety and Emergency Management Offices to identify best practices and streamline school communications.  The position is a direct school liaison to all principals and the Diocesan Education Endowment Trust. The Associate Superintendent for Operational Vitality supervises the Director of Marketing & Enrollment Management and the Database Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

• With the Superintendent, creates a compelling story for Catholic education in the Diocese of Dallas.
• Assists the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the implementation of the strategic plan.
• Fosters mutual respect among pastors, presidents, principals, teachers, students and parents.
• Develops and executes a comprehensive marketing strategy to build brand recognition throughout the Diocese and ultimately produces solutions and systems to improve access to Catholic schools for families with financial need alongside partner organizations and funders.
• Collaborates with the diocesan Communications Office and the Texas Catholic on public relations, video production, and other school-related marketing/communication efforts.
• Partners and collaborates with Superintendent of Schools and Diocesan HR function, on all HR matters, policies, programs, hotlines etc., pertaining to Catholic Schools assigned to this position.
• Develops and executes a comprehensive strategy for system-wide Institutional Advancement encompassing communications, admission, and development strategies.
• Manages the production and distribution of a high-quality CSO Annual Report.
• Develops and monitors a diocesan-wide dashboard consisting of key performance indicators for diocesan and school-level benchmarks.
• Researches and introduces metrics and templates to comprehensively measure school health. Assists schools in self-evaluation of effective operational practices and budgeting.
o Ensures all schools have comprehensive strategic plans in place and assists schools with plan development and implementation as  necessary.
o Develops individualized approaches for schools in need of enrollment growth through training, mentorship, collaboration, etc.
o Supports and convenes school Development Directors/Advancement Office personnel for regular meetings to introduce new strategies and best practices.
o With the Diocesan Business Office, identifies best practices and introduces tools for effective fiscal management at the school level.
• Identifies diocesan school needs and supports the Diocesan Development Office with school-related development efforts.
• With the Diocesan Safety and Emergency Management Office, monitors local and national school safety and security protocols and requirements and supports schools to ensure effective practices are implemented at each.
• Supervises the Director of Marketing and Enrollment Management and the Database Coordinator.
• Oversees the diocesan financial aid processes, including need analysis, fund distribution, and communication protocols.
• Interacts and connects with other local organizations that support schools, including state/federal programs.
• Oversees a selected group of schools as the primary point of contact within the CSO.
• Regularly visits schools and classrooms to gain first-hand knowledge of existing programs and the unique circumstances that impact the operation of the institution.
• Works with individual administrators to ensure that effective operational approaches are being used within the school communities.
• Makes regular reports of progress and activities to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools.
• Completes any other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Catholic Schools.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The Associate Superintendent must be a dynamic leader with the following demonstrated abilities:

• Exercises good judgment and respect in dealing with conflict resolution.
• Shows inclusive educational leadership by demonstrating integrity, honesty, directness, flexibility, humility and a sense of humor.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, planning, records management, research, and general administration.
• Understands and supports the purpose, philosophy and goals of Catholic education as taught by the Catholic Church.
• Articulates the vision of Catholic Schools and mobilizes the forces necessary to enhance the schools.
• Demonstrates a command of research and actively reviews current research and trends.
• Provides leadership on a variety of issues in different settings.
• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Works collaboratively with a variety of groups.
• Operates standard office equipment.

Education and Experience:
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership
• Ten (10) years teaching and administrative experiences
• Experience in Catholic Schools

Special Requirements:
• Practicing Catholic in good standing, required.
